Voonami launches services on the Utopia Network
West Valley City, Utah—(Business Wire) – The Utah Telecommunications Open Infrastructure Agency (“UTOPIA”) today announced that Voonami, a cloud computing and data center solutions provider, has joined the UTOPIA network to offer services. Voonami will offer voice, Internet and private networking services for business customers, leveraging the ultra-high-speed broadband capacity of UTOPIA’s fiber-optic network.
“Voonami’s wide range of innovative products and services will be a great asset to business customers on the UTOPIA network,” says Todd Marriott, UTOPIA’s Executive Director. “UTOPIA’s open network model provides more choice and more services for business customers throughout our cities. The cities of UTOPIA are excited to add Voonami to the impressive lineup of providers on the network.”
The UTOPIA network, formed and owned by a group of 16 Utah cities, provides the physical infrastructure – an active Ethernet, fully fiber-optic network – directly to the premise. Private sector companies use the network to provide Internet, phone, video, and other next generation broadband services to business and residential customers. UTOPIA’s open access model creates the perfect environment for the best quality services at the best prices, giving customers the freedom to choose from among multiple service providers in a competitive marketplace.
“Voonami’s services are the perfect match for UTOPIA’s fiber-optic technology,” says Ben Bush, President of Voonami. “We are very pleased to expand our array of services – including virtual desktop, managed services, dedicated servers, collocation and IT outsourcing services – to reach the UTOPIA cities. Joining the UTOPIA network further expands our core network and will enable us to offer extremely competitive network services and is a great compliment to our existing network.”
About Utopia
The Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency, more commonly known as UTOPIA, is a group of 16 Utah cities that joined together to form a state-of-the-art fiber-optic network. The network brings fiber-to-the-premise technology to the cities — which have a combined population of over 500,000 — allowing for faster services that are uninterrupted by copper wiring or shared connections with neighbors. Its open access model fosters competition among private sector service providers who offer Internet, television, telephone and other services, giving customers the freedom to choose their own service providers, the best prices, and absolutely the best service.
