Backcountry.com selects Voonami’s green data center for disaster recovery hosting

July 23, 2010

Backcountry.com has selected Salt Lake City-based data center service provider Voonami to protect its critical online infrastructure and provide imperative disaster recovery hosting. Attractive to Backcountry, and key to the outdoor gear retailer’s decision, was Voonami’s new energy-efficient Salt Lake data center, which has earned the best PUE provider rating in Utah due to its efficient power management and dynamic design capacity.

“Renewable energy is a corporate focus of Backcountry. We want to partner with a data center provider that not only has highly skilled engineering talent, but is also concerned with energy efficiency. Voonami’s team and new facility fit nicely with our goals,” said Rob Plowgian, Director of IT Operations at Backcountry.com.

“We are honored to have Backcountry.com join our customer portfolio,” stated Ben Bush, President of Voonami. “We are acutely aware of the importance of a well-designed data center to support an online retail environment. Backcountry requires high availability and Voonami can deliver.”
